What is a OGG file?

Developed and maintained by the Xiph.Org Foundation, the Ogg audio format represents an open and restriction-free multimedia framework. Although, this container format can be used to multiplex different and multiple streams of audio, video, text and metadata but generally it serves as an audio container supporting a number of audio codecs. Vorbis is the most commonly used audio layer in this format while it can support other lossless compressions like FLAC and OggPCM. Suitable for both commercial and non-commercial use, Ogg audio format allows efficient streaming and manipulation of high-quality digital audio data.

How to open OGG files
