Roxio Unveils Newly Enhanced PhotoShow.com
Celebrates the Creation of the One Millionth Unique Family Story
Santa Clara, California (February 16, 2009) - Roxio®, a division of Sonic Solutions® (NASDAQ: SNIC), today released a range of enhancements for its online storytelling platform PhotoShow™ that make it even easier for families to turn personal photos and video clips into lively and engaging multimedia slideshows. In addition, the company announced it has achieved an important milestone with 1 million PhotoShows being created and viewed a staggering 22 million times since the Roxio-branded service was first introduced in April 2008.
To mark the achievement, Roxio has introduced an expanded feature set that includes optimizations for slideshow quality and clarity, a streamlined system for uploading content, an auto save function, and a preview feature for viewing shows while in production. New PhotoShow One-Click Styles are available in a number of themes that automatically generate a polished production, complete with an animated introduction, soundtrack, and transitions. Many of the Styles come with coordinating DVD packaging artwork for those ordering professionally produced keepsake discs. Users who wish to further customize shows now have the ability to add personal MP3 files as background tracks, control slide duration, and add one of a host of new decorative border designs.
Families can try the service for free and create their unique personal stories to preserve the memory and to share securely with family and friends on PCs, DVDs, TVs, handhelds, and popular social media sites at www.photoshow.com. Roxio has also introduced Roxio PhotoShow Mobile Uploader for Blackberry®, a free application that enables mobile users to easily upload pictures captured on a BlackBerry device to their online PhotoShow account. "We built the Roxio PhotoShow service to make storytelling online as easy as possible for families and are delighted that millions are enjoying the results of that effort," said Matt DiMaria, General Manager of the Roxio Products Group of Sonic Solutions. "The wave of new features, including the ability to add your own MP3 music, higher definition video playback and dozens of other enhancements are largely based on the direct input of our customers. PhotoShow.com is simply the best destination for anyone looking to share life's stories with the people they care about."
Upgrading to the premium PhotoShow service unlocks additional creation and sharing capabilities. Premium subscribers are able to select from over 150 One-Click Styles in a range of themes including Sports, Music Videos, Photo Greeting Cards, Vacations, Birth Announcements, Weddings, Seasons, Kids, Pets, Birthdays, Graduation, Time-Lapse, Scrapbook, Documentary, and major Holidays.
Bringing storytellers and viewers together, Roxio PhotoShow users can easily share shows in collections called channels, even grouping them by topic such as vacation or holidays. PhotoShow channels can be added to MSN, Yahoo, or Google pages or an iTunes Podcast library. Individual PhotoShows may also be embedded directly into social networking pages on Facebook or MySpace. Roxio PhotoShow is currently the only service that also allows users to broadcast shows directly to cable TV where they appear as a video-on-demand offering.
