Roxio, Verbatim, and Fellowes Partner to Promote CD Burning

BurnPak! Promotion Lets Consumers Access and Burn Free MP3 Music Tracks

Milpitas, Calif, August 13, 2001 - Roxio, Inc. (Nasdaq:ROXI), Roxio, Inc., the Digital Media Company, Verbatim Corp. and Fellowes, Inc. today announced they are partnering to promote legal CD burning as an integral part of music subscription and distribution services. This partnership will enable consumers to easily download and burn MP3 music tracks onto CD using Roxio's best-selling CD burning software, Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum for Windows and Toast 5 Titanium for Macintosh.

Through Roxio's BurnPak! Promotion, consumers will be able to access an online tutorial, Roxio's Learn.2.Burn (www.roxio.com/burnemusic), enabling them to download free authorized MP3s from a variety of genres. Using Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum or Toast 5 Titanium they can quickly and easily burn their selections onto a CD that can be played in their car, home or portable CD player. Also, Verbatim and Fellowes are providing, for a limited time, a recordable CD and sample label sheet in boxes of Creator and Toast to facilitate the creation of finished CDs.

"Roxio's goal is to enable consumers to legally download and record music to CD in a consumer-friendly manner," said Chris Gorog, CEO and President of Roxio, Inc.

"Verbatim's highly reliable CD-Recordable and CD-ReWritable media is the ideal complement for Roxio's easy-to-use CD burning software," said Ron Hanafin, Verbatim Optical Product Marketing Manager. "By providing superior quality discs for audio burning, consumers can feel secure that their music has been recorded on media that will provide years of consistently high performance playback."

"We believe our partnership with Roxio and their other preferred partners will provide the consumer with a complete solution to easily organize and identify their digital music in a efficient and attractive fashion," said Peter Fellowes, President, COO of Fellowes.

Industry analysts have reported that consumers are flocking to online music services and predict that by 2005, online music sales will reach $5 billion. By the end of this year, it is expected that 5 billion blank CDs will be shipped in support of an estimated installed base of 100 million CD recorders.

The partnership among Roxio, Verbatim and Fellowes recognizes the fundamental changes taking place in the way content is distributed and will broaden over the next year to include additional promotions for consumers.
