Roxio Names William E. Growney Jr. Director of Legal Affairs
Milpitas, Calif., April 3, 2001 - Roxio, Inc., the digital media company from Adaptec, Inc., announced today that William E. Growney, Jr. has joined the company as Director of Legal Affairs. Roxio's President and CEO Chris Gorog, to whom Mr. Growney will report, made the announcement.
"Bill has some great experience working with public companies and facilitating M&A activity," said Gorog. "We expect Bill to make a significant contribution to the team."
Mr. Growney will work closely with executive staff and business development teams to negotiate potential corporate partnerships, acquisitions and customer contracts. In addition, Mr. Growney will advise Roxio's executive staff on general legal issues and securities laws and will coordinate Roxio's outside legal service providers.
Mr. Growney comes to Roxio from the law firm of Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, LLP, where he was a Corporate Senior Associate. While there, he represented Actuate Corporation, Information Advantage, Inc. and InterTrust Technologies Corporation in their initial public offerings. Mr. Growney has also represented a number of public technology companies in the acquisitions of both private and public companies.
For over 10 years, Mr. Growney served in the Marine Corps Reserve and the California National Guard. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political Science and Economics from University of California, Berkeley and a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Harvard University.
