Roxio Announces Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, the Premier CD Burning Software for Windows

Milpitas, Calif., February 26, 2001 - Roxio, Inc., the digital media company from Adaptec, Inc., today unveiled Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, the new version of the #1 selling CD burning software in the world. The new Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum boasts a redesigned intuitive user interface for burning music, photo, video and data CDs. Some of the new features include MP3 encoding, MS Audio support, a new video editor, MPEG-1 encoding and a new easy to use interface for DirectCD, the simple way to drag and drop files onto CD just like a floppy drive.

Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum's new music features allow users to create compilation CDs from favorite songs and to add transitions and cross-fades between tracks. With the new MP3 encoder, users can create MP3's from their favorite CDs and burn over 100 MP3s to CD that can be played in any MP3 player or CD-ROM drive. Other cool audio features include CD Spin Doctor; the application that allows users to burn LPs to CD, and remove annoying scratches, hisses and pops. In addition, the new Easy CD Creator Music Project comes equipped with a 10-band equalizer, realizer and normalizer that users can use to enhance the sound quality of their MP3's and balance the loudness between tracks. With CD Copier, users can also burn a backup copy of any non-copy-protected CD.

Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum's new photo and video features make it easy and fun to create CD and Web photo albums, Video CDs and Video postcards. PhotoRelay is the ideal application for organizing, searching and cataloging digital photos and images. Consumers can create photo slideshows or web albums of their favorite photos, add music and special effects, then burn to CD and send to family and friends to be played on any PC, with no special software required. With the new Video Impression feature, users can easily create a VideoCD and burn it seamlessly to a format that can be viewed on VCD or DVD players or place a video clip in a professionally designed "postcard" frame and burn it to CD that can be played on any PC.

A new and improved feature in Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum is DirectCD, the application that allows you to drag and drop files onto a CD just like a floppy drive, now has an easier to use interface with one-button formatting.

"Roxio aims to make CD burning an easy and rich experience for the millions of CD-R/RW users," said Tom Shea, Chief Operating Officer of Roxio, Inc. "The new Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum features a solution based interface for those customers new to CD burning, and powerful music, photo and video applications for the more seasoned burner."
