Adaptec Announces Release Of GoBack 2.2

MILPITAS, Calif., May 17, 2000 - Adaptec, the global leader in innovative storage solutions, today announced the launch of GoBack 2.2. The latest version of its award-winning continuous protection and system recovery software will support Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), the next generation of the Windows 9x operating system. In addition, GoBack Professional 2.2, designed for business and educational use, will feature enhancements for public access computers.

"With Windows Me support, GoBack continues to be the premier tool for business, education and home computer users who wish to achieve the highest level of protection for both system and individual data files," said Jean-Eric Garnier, director of Productivity Protection Products for Adaptec. "The focus on PC health and the ability to restore a computer to a previously working state is a positive and growing trend in personal computing. For individuals and IT professionals interested in restoring user data as well a functional system, GoBack is the best solution."

An article titled "System Savings Time" in the Jan. 18, 2000 issue of PC Magazine concurs. "...these [system recovery] tools are so important that Microsoft is already building some of these features into its operating systems... Although these new features of Microsoft Windows will undoubtedly have an effect on this growing market, they won't provide all the features of a robust system recovery tool such as GoBack."

About GoBack 2.2

Winner of numerous industry awards, including PC Magazine Editors' Choice (January and May 2000), PC World Best Buy (February 2000) and the Software & Information Industry Association 2000 Codie Award (March 2000), GoBack allows PC users to effortlessly undo a multitude of problems arising from system crashes, failed software installations, virus attacks and user error. The software takes a computer back in time to virtually any moment in the recent past when everything was working fine. GoBack protects both system settings and user content, thereby reducing the need to reconfigure systems or recreate data when PCs fail.

GoBack Professional 2.2 offers an enhanced Auto-revert function with the addition of "Auto-revert on shutdown/logoff," an option that can be used in combination with GoBack Professional's Auto-revert scheduler. Auto-revert automatically reverts a PC's hard disk to a pre-defined "clean" state without user intervention. It is an ideal solution for computer labs, libraries and other public access computer environments, as it helps stop problems before they start by automatically undoing any changes made by end users.

The release of GoBack 2.2 advances Adaptec's position as a leading provider of software that moves, manages, and protects PC users' valuable data. Adaptec's full line of data protection software includes GoBack, Easy CD Creator 4.0 and Take Two, which provide users with a full range of tools from disk imaging to immediate system and data recovery.
